We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Marketing Communications Manager who will be responsible for using an understanding of the business, product, customer, distribution channel and competitors and applying their perspective and expertise in marketing communications to develop and deploy marketing communication strategies across multiple channels and geographies to enable sales and build the Abbott brand.

Impact this role will have on Abbott:

§ Creates and executes measurable, multi-channel communications strategies and campaigns to support the commercialization of solutions globally. Some campaigns may be created and executed in close conjunction with Marketing Communications peers who are working in specific geographies, such as the U.S., Europe or Asia and require an understanding of the nuances of different geographies and selling divisions to ensure communication campaigns enable the sales organizations

§ Develops a deep understanding of Marketing’s business plans, St. Jude Medical products and the diseases these solutions address, and the customers and patients who benefit from our solutions. Also develops an understanding of competitor products, marketing and promotional programs

§ Be responsible for delivery of the campaign management process from kickoff to regular (monthly or quarterly) data reports and updates that encompasses budget and measurable results

§ Collaborates closely with peers in Marketing Communication Project Management, Operations, Digital, Brand, Events, Creative Services, Public Relations, Internal Communications and Marketing to align on campaigns, process, strategies, best practices and efficiencies

§ Works with staff and project management colleagues to ensure that all content is taken through proper Regulatory, Quality and Legal reviews in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Marketing Communications

§ Supervises vendors and contractors as needed for different projects and programs

§ In collaboration with the Events organization, participate in congress/convention strategy and execution for larger events, which feature products that are covered in assigned campaigns

§ Supports initiatives to strategically develop and deploy content across multiple channels, especially measurable digital channels

§ Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors

§ Performs other related duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success:

§ Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, English or equivalent

§ 5+ years of progressively more responsible work experience in the field of marketing communications and in the industry of medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, IT or other similar field

§ Three to six years of experience managing vendors/contractors

§ Track record of delivering measurable, successful multi-channel communication campaigns and leading teams that deliver similar campaigns

§ Experience managing a substantial budget encompassing personnel and campaign finances

§ Experience working with a global brand

§ Experience working with colleagues in and on campaigns that are for different geographies, including U.S., Europe and Asia

§ Comprehensive personal computer skills including demonstrated spreadsheet, word processing and database management capabilities are required

§ Experience working with sales enablement tools, including web and mobile apps are also critical

§ An entrepreneurial, take-charge, change-agent spirit is critical with a passion for working in the healthcare industry

§ Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment

§ Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment

§ Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects

§ Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

§ Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner

§ Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail

§ Ability to travel approximately 10-20%, including internationally

§ Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance

Your preferred qualifications and education:

§ Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred

§ A MBA or master’s degree in communication or other relevant field is ideal but not required
