Software Principal Engineer - Austin, TX
As a Software Principal Engineer, you will be working in a high-energy, Dev Ops organization. You will collaborate in the design, development, and test effort sustaining and improving the Development tool ecosystem. Your role is to sustain, expand, build scalability, and automation to drive software and hardware development efficiency and effectiveness throughout the entire development cycle. You will work closely with Senior Software Development architects, software and hardware developers to enable a robust tool ecosystem design to drive Zero Design Defect directly reducing the cost of poor quality. This Position reports directly to the Director of Software Engineering.
Role Responsibilities - Designing tool automation processes to improve SW development efficiency and productivity - Integrate industry leading Software development tools to the tool environment - Support backend infrastructure - designing expansion and keep the environment running - Work with Software and hardware developers to design tool solutions to deliver end-to-end tool ecosystem - Support service desk to address customer requirements/issues - Work with security team to design and deploy cyber security solutions - Create and test prototypes to enhance tool environment - Design and deploy tool telemetry and data analytics - Successfully communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale
Requirements - 4+ years of software development experience designing and developing software architecture solutions within IT environment - Programming Languages: Java, C# - Experience with scripting Languages: Shell, Groovy, Ruby, Python, Perl, PowerShell - Software Configuration manage in-depth knowledge: TFS, Git, Subversion - Operating systems: Linux and Windows - Excellent problem solving skills - Experience with Rest APIs - Experience with Atlassian Tool set, Jenkins, and security tools - Experience in Linux server administration with Redhat, CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu - Experience with automation/configuration management using Ansible, Chef, and puppet
Preferences - Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field - Familiar with logging/monitoring applications tools such as Splunk, Zabbix, Nagios - Knowledge of Paas and IaaS - Knowledge of continue integration build environment - Software configuration management experience
