The Technology, Media and Telecom business is the world’s leading source for research, analysis, and strategic guidance in the technology, media, and telecommunications industries. The central operations group partners with functional teams to provide a wide range of foundational support, including research data operations, business reporting, editing and publishing, and Agile product ownership. The team plays a key role in driving planning, process and execution for the systems, tools and deliverables across the business.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced data governance professional responsible for the establishment and stewardship of our data governance strategy, framework and practices for market research data. The Data Governance Lead will work closely with business and functional leadership to support the strategic requirements of the business line, as well as ensure adherence to enterprise data governance frameworks and requirements.

Duties & Accountabilities:

  • Establish and govern a business line data governance roadmap for market research data, ensuring that strategic priorities drive activities and implementation

  • Ensure practices that adhere to the principles of the standard data quality dimensions and own the definition of quality as it relates to market research data

  • Drive collaborative efforts between business and functional areas, resulting in the ability to aggregate across disparate data siloes

  • Define the roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of data

  • Drive efforts to build a robust business glossary, associated metadata, and data lineage; capture changes to the use of data; and establish data protection practices

  • Define and monitor performance and quality metrics

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with large-scale data and project management in a research environment.

  • 4 years in a senior management role, with change management leadership experience

  • Expert knowledge of data governance practices, and business and technologies trends and concerns related to management of data

  • Knowledge of best practices in data quality and protection

  • Demonstrated consultative skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement

  • Knowledge of data architectures and technology solutions

Personal Competencies:

  • Willingness to provide direction, ability to articulate change efforts and mission, and demonstrated ability to manage challenging situations

  • Ability to develop cooperative and constructive working relationships across all organizational levels throughout all areas of the business with a collaborative, team player attitude

  • Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals, with a developed skill set for setting priorities and aligning those priorities with strategy
