Our Aviation Technical Excellence Center provides engineering and planning services for airports facilities, terminals and supports WSP USA's projects around the world. The Aviation team works on multiple projects simultaneously, in close coordination with other technical departments.

The Role

As a result of our expanding Aviation practice, and our recent win on the DFW contract , we have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Project Manager for Aviation Design in our Dallas, TX regional office. The role will be responsible for the development of business and successful execution of Aviation design for current and potential clients in the region, and overall long term growth. The role will also be responsible for marketing across all phases of service of the Aviation Market. Principal duties are:


  • Collaborate with the Aviation Design Manager and region Business Development Leader to identify and capitalize upon opportunities

  • Assist with the preparation of an annual update to client-focus tactical action plans for identified clients in the region

  • Cross-market other capabilities as appropriate


  • Assist in establishing regional, aviation market goals commensurate with company goals

  • Establishe sales goals by client and prospect within the region

  • Assist Aviation Design Manager and region Business Development Leader in making Go/No Go decisions

  • Lead proposal and interview preparations

  • Lead client relationship efforts for major clients identified within the region


  • Assist with establishing and continued development of the strategic plan for attaining long-term goals including assisting the Aviation Design Manager, and other leadership in acquisition needs and other corporate actions to support strategy

  • Assists Aviation Design Manager in preparing marketing budgets for the region

  • Implement client relationship efforts within approved budget that lead to a broad understanding of a specific client’s upcoming capital program and named opportunities

  • Determine staffing needs or additional strategic/production hires, and create staff and succession development plans

  • Monitor and assure staff scheduling with appropriate production staff for project needs, and facilitate work sharing


  • Deliver Aviation design and planning of projects for runway, taxiway, and airfield apron engineering and construction, airfield drainage and grading improvements, and airfield lighting and Navigational Aid engineering and construction

  • Manage project execution within scope, budget and schedule.

  • Prepare scope for projects, review contract requirements, and develop budgets and schedules

  • Help develop technical skills and experience of other staff

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • Employment authorization to work in the United States immediately

  • BS degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, with a graduate degree preferred

  • PE license in Texas or the ability to obtain one within six months

  • At least ten years’ relevant experience

  • Thorough understanding of the market and business development for Aviation in the region

  • Experience in marketing and supervision of technical work performed by others

  • Ability to travel within the region to other offices and client premises
