Atmos Energy Sr Rate Analyst in Dallas, Texas

Senior level professional position responsible for providing technical analysis at the highest level in the performance of activities directly related to the determination and regulatory approval of rates that produce the company-s margin revenues. Position may represent the company before regulatory commissions.

  1. Provides written and verbal expert testimony relating to ratemaking issues in public hearings before regulatory bodies.

  2. Analyzes the effects of rulings by regulatory authorities on the revenues of the company and on the Company-s accounting processes and procedures and presents these results to management.

  3. Prepares rate related filings in jurisdictions to be used in advocating the company-s position on accounting, ratemaking, gas cost, cost allocation issues and other regulatory issues and to comply with orders from regulatory authorities and current tariffs.

  4. Coordinates, organizes and reviews information flow between internal departments in response to data requests from rate case interveners in a timely manner.

  5. Reviews and analyzes billing information to determine its accuracy and usefulness in a regulatory proceeding.

  6. Participates in settlement conferences with regulators. Represents the company in meetings with commission staff and commissioners regarding ratemaking issues.

  7. Files compliance reports with governing jurisdictions as required.

  8. Reviews and analyzes accounting, billing and engineering data for accuracy and appropriate information. Accumulates and analyzes data necessary for the preparation of regulatory reports and rate change filings.

  9. Develops financial and statistical models to improve departmental efficiency and accuracy in rate filings.

  10. Coordinates and reviews departmental projects to ensure the accurate and timely completion of tasks.

  11. Provides technical direction and training to other employees engaged in similar work.

  12. Documents departmental procedures, processes and internal controls. Reviews for effectiveness and recommends revisions as necessary.

  13. Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and five years related progressively responsible professional experience in utility ratemaking or similar professional experience; or

  2. A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and seven years related progressively responsible professional experience in utility ratemaking or similar professional experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Requires the ability to communicate, persuade or influence verbally and in writing with internal and/or external customers (including regulators) in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no background in the area under discussion.

NUMERIC SKILLS:

Requires the ability to apply research methods, algorithms, calculus and/or advanced statistical and/or accounting methods.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Advanced knowledge of various business computer applications in order to create complex documents, reports or graphics.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Works in an office environment.

Overnight Travel is required.

Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
