About the Opportunity
Help us succeed by doing your part as a member of our Final Assembly department as an Assembly Mechanic. A Final Assembly Mechanic plans and performs bench assembly and a variety of other assembly operations to assemble and inspect components, sub-assemblies and systems according to work instructions
Major duties of a Final Assembly Mechanic include:
Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, such as protractors and dividers, following blueprint station lines and index points.
Perform assembly, fitting, filing, reaming, riveting, crimping, swaging, and adjusting operations.
Use a variety of light machine tools such as drill press, arbor press, air and hydraulic presses and simple die sets, riveting machine as well as hand tools.
Trims and files parts to fit, and verifies fitting tolerances, using measuring instruments, such as gauges and calipers.
Locates holes to be drilled in structural assembly for installation of parts and components, using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
Drills, taps, reams, countersinks, holes in subassemblies, and bolts, rivets, or otherwise fastens detail parts into structural assembly, using hand tools and power tools.
Sand excess adhesive from products
Mix and use various adhesives per customer specification(s)
Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Detects defective or incorrect parts and requests replacement if necessary.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
At least two years’ experience of assembly experience, preferably aerospace.
