TIC – The Industrial Company is seeking Ironworker Craftsman.

The successful candidate shall plan, lay-out, install, assemble and erect steel components in accordance with plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.

Responsibilities:

Use appropriate hand (i.e. hammer, wrench, socket-wrench) and power tools (i.e. cutting torch, air-trigger) to properly measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and erect steel and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.

Shakeout of steel into erectable sequence; rig steel members for crane hoisting with a thorough knowledge and use of crane signals; connect steel members; bolt-up connections; rack structure; plumb and square; torque bolts and thorough knowledge and use of crane signals.

Be able to guide steel members into position using tag line; pulls, pushes or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by crane; force member into final position using turnbuckle, ironbars, jacks and handtools; align holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member using drift pins or handle of wrench through the holes; verify vertical and horizontal alignment of member using plumb bob and level; cut and weld members to make alterations, using oxyacetylene welding equipment.

Education, Experience or Formal Training:

Must have working knowledge of structural welding, use of cutting torches and working knowledge of all aspects of the ironworkers craft.

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

Ability to work in conditions common to a construction site including but not limited to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, noise.

Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift.

Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.

Climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Possess full range of motion and flexibility.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
