Business Intelligence Technical Specialist – BO Dev Lead

The lead business objects developer will work on the design, specification, delivery and support of reporting solutions for BP’s trading business. Work closely with the BIRR team and user community to deliver projects and improvements on time and to specification(s). This role will ensure that design and technology choices are motivated by the group strategy and roadmap, and work to agreed standards and policies.

Is this a part time position?:
Primary interface to NAGP business groups for Business Objects.
Responsible for the stability and quality of BO delivered by BI team and other NAGP project teams and managed services.
Supports the design, implementation and maintenance of Business Objects Universes to support daily valuations, risk management, accounting and pricing within a dynamic Energy trading environment.
BO SME working alongside ETL, BA and DA teams.
Responsible for documenting universe features and data available for end user consumption.
Works closely with data architecture team to balance universe and reporting ease of use with optimal database performance.
Supports user base with report design techniques and consult with potential projects regarding correct usage of Reporting tools.
Assist infrastructure team with upgrade activities.
Ensure change request deliverables are produced and completed within the requested boundaries of time and scope, and in compliance with change governance guidelines.
Provide technical analysis and design specifications for the assigned deliverables, and work with other team members to complete its implementation.
Work to ensure smooth delivery into the operational environment, and identify and establish the required development and operational infrastructure requirements.

Desirable criteria and qualifications:
Master of Science in Computer Information Systems
Experience with Visualization tools e.g., Tableau, Lumira, PowerBI
Experience in leading team(s)
Understanding of project financials

Essential experience and job requirements:
10+ years of experience working with Business Intelligence / Analytic systems in large-scale enterprise IT environments.
10+ years with Business Objects Universe & Web Intelligence design skills.
7+ years experience with Oracle and SQL*Server databases with demonstrated proficiency in writing stored procedures (PL/SQL, T-SQL), data modeling, and query tuning.
5+ years experience in the Energy trading space with exposure to Front, Mid, and Back Office solutions.
Demonstrate the ability to follow standard methodologies in BO development and evidence of project completion, including transition to support; successful operational management in an enterprise environment.
Ability to work independently and with others in a widely dispersed, dynamic, team environment.
Strong problem solving, time management, organizational skills coupled with excellent documentation skills and ability to think out of the box.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.
Project Management experience with BO upgrades / implementations.
Ability and confidence in leading activities with conflicting priorities.
