JOB SUMMARY: WSP USA is currently looking to add a Cost Control Engineer in the Energy Group located in Houston, Texas. This is a great opportunity for someone to start their career in Engineering. This individual will perform cost control on various projects related to underground hydrocarbon storage and injection wells. Common projects types includes well drilling, well workovers, facility piping or infrastructure upgrades. Projects usually have a short duration which amplifies the need to work with project manager, accounting, vendors and clients to maintain concurrent cost tracking and up to date project financials. The position is entry level and is a starting point for project engineering or management and a transition into the drilling, workover or surface group is expected within two to three years. Occasional travel to project sites will be needed.


  • Process and approve vendor invoices and field tickets

  • Compare project charges against bids and contracts

  • Visit project sites to collect financial information and verify equipment and personnel charges

  • Maintain project cost and compare to baseline estimates

  • Prepare cost status and forecasts

  • Assist with preparing monthly cost reporting documents

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Geology

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience

  • General knowledge of drilling, injection wells or reservoirs is a plus

  • Good organizational and communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel
