Manage compliance, training, safety and environmental management system (EMS) responsibilities for the Gulf Central Region. The position will lead the development and the implementation of compliance programs, procedures, and policies associated with federal, state, and local regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:•Interact with and present Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Initiatives and KPIs effectively to senior managers, customers, and regulators.•Lead the implementation and development of multiple health, safety and environmental programs within the region, inclusive of, but not limited to, employee and contractor safety, safety training, incident investigation, emergency response, industrial hygiene monitoring, facility security plans, waste management, and compliance with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.•Track and report on region’s incidents and regulatory agency interactions through incident management software. Improve regional performance through identification of incident trends/correlations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions•Preparation of annual emissions inventories, and submitting annual Tier II reports•Promote EHS awareness by building on existing Safety, Quality, Environmental (SQE) culture communicating with all levels of employees, and promoting positive reinforcement of safety and health•Conduct formal and informal site audits, job audits and routine inspections as needed or as directed•Audit compliance with KMT policies and procedures•Coordinate with other departments including Procurement, Engineering, Legal and Operations to successfully complete expansion, or remediation projects.•Capable of performing EHS on-call duties•Establish work priorities, organize work for timely completion and manage multiple projects simultaneously.•Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.•Follow all internal and external policies, procedures, laws and regulations applicable to Kinder Morgan.
•Other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:BA/BS degree in a technical discipline, such as science, engineering, environmental or safety, or equivalent job experienceREQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:• 3-5 years of experience with environmental, health and safety regulations.• Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and state environmental regulations.• Must be a problem solver with the ability to diplomatically find solutions.• Experience coordinating compliance and management programs with operations and/or shared services personnel.• Demonstrated project management and multi-tasking skills.• Ability to interact with peers with self-confidence, poise, and professionalism.• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.• Strong written communications skills.• Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.• Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction.PREFERRED SKILLS:• Management or supervisory skills training preferred.• Expert skill level with Microsoft Office Suite, especially ability to analyze data with Microsoft Excel.• Experience at an oil and gas and/or energy company.WORKING CONDITIONS:• Must be able to perform the physical requirements including, but not limited to; walking up and down stairs/ladders and negotiating uneven surfaces.• Must be able to meet travel requirements of at least 25%• Carry a company-provided cell phone and respond during working hours and non-working hours as required.• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
