To oversee and coordinate the quality assurance improvement and sustainability engineering activities to ensure quality processes are used to deliver quality products.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible and accountable for manufacturing quality for downhole completions tools and equipment. Manages and drives compliance to quality plans and quality processes at three manufacturing facilities located in Texas and Canada. Coordinates with Manufacturing Management to ensure quality assurance and quality control teams effectively and efficiently execute responsibilities. Coordinates with supply chain to drive satisfactory supplier performance.
Collaborates with Supply Chain, Manufacturing functions, Engineering and Service/Delivery Quality to:
Drive process improvements and drives institution of common processes and work instructions throughout manufacturing to eliminate variations and increase reliability.
Establish KPIs, collect and analyze data and generate reports for management reviews, including failure reports received from Service/Delivery Quality, from Clients and from internal failure analysis teams.
Participate in the development and revision of manuals, procedures, work instructions, forms and quality plans.
Assist in the investigation, root-cause analysis, and issuance of corrective/preventive actions on product defects and failures.
Ensure successful compliance and or certification to API and/or ISO quality system requirements.
Drive compliance to requirements of manufacturing Quality, Technical and Client-Specific Requirements
Visit and coordinate with Clients and suppliers as necessary to enhance the Company’s reputation for Quality and to consult on specific product quality related problems.
Ensure appropriate quality support is applied for production related activities, including the coordination and liaison with Third Party Inspectors (TPIs) and documentation group.
Ensure appropriate reviews of sales orders, engineering specifications and work order routings for inclusion of special quality requirements.
Train personnel on quality procedures, tools, systems and auditing as required.
Perform internal audits and supplier audits.
Must understand and comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental rules and company policies of Weatherford.
Work assignments to be carried out to the highest quality level.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
Strong skills in leadership, communications, task coordination and project management processes.
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent in a technical discipline.
Experience writing job-specific Quality Control Plans (QCP) or Inspection and test plans (ITP).
Familiar with mechanical testing such as tensile, hardness, charpy, etc.
Familiar with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes.
Experience with heat treating processes for cast-iron and high strength low-alloy steels.
Good understanding of steel microstructural properties.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, materials specifications, testing specifications, and related industry standards and specifications.
Knowledge of API Q1 / ISO 9001 quality standards.
Computer literate with MS Office products with a strong knowledge of MS Excel
Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and tools.
Knowledge and understanding of industry specifications (i.e. NIST, API, ASTM)
Proficiency in formal auditing techniques for ISO 9001 and/or API Q1
Strong knowledge of dimensional inspection including tools, techniques, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
8+ years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Manager.
5 - 10 years’ experience working in an Oil & Gas manufacturing environment.
1 - 2 years’ experience in metallurgical, welding, heat treating
Excellent skills in prioritizing and multi-tasking.
Excellent understanding of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action implementation.
Good knowledge / understanding of cast-iron and composite frac plugs and slip technology a major plus.
Good knowledge / understanding of cased-hole completions products, a major plus.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
Certified Six Sigma Greenbelt
Accredited Lead Auditor Certification to ISO 9001 or API Q1 standards, a plus
