OldCastle Regional Sales Director - Lawn & Garden - Southeast in Houston, Texas

Oldcastle Lawn & Garden, a division of Oldcastle, is one of the largest manufacturers of bagged and bulk decorative mulch, soil, stone, and limestone products in the nation with over 40 production facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead sales growth in a region that includes independent garden centers, commercial nurseries, regional chains, bulk yards and specialty retail locations

  • Player / Coach sales leadership position

  • Be the “face of the business” – highly visible both internally and externally

  • Direct and coordinate all sales activities and staff – currently 10 direct reports

  • Responsible for hiring, managing, training, coaching and evaluating direct reports

  • Define sales goals and sources of growth

  • Partner effectively with VP Sales & Marketing and Operations leadership

  • Establish short and long term strategies to achieve through sales team

  • Work with regional personnel to enhance customer experience through sales and operations excellence

  • Leverage CRM to improve customer retention and prospect close rates

  • Understand strengths and weaknesses of all competitors in all territories

  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations and Finance leadership on sales forecasting

  • Grow the business profitably

  • Think strategically across the Region, and all of Oldcastle Lawn & Garden to ensure long term success

Requirements / Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field – or equivalent in training, experience and education

  • 10+ years of sales experience within DIY / Hardware / Home Improvement – preferably Lawn & Garden

  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation

  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English - Spanish desirable

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability and willingness to travel within assigned sales geography

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required

  • Demonstrated negotiating skills and financial acumen

  • Strong sales skills, confidence and comfort with direct customer interaction

  • Self-starter; Demonstrated success in a remote, autonomous sales role

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Microsoft Office components Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • CRM / Salesforce.com a plus
