Primary Purpose:

Oversee the Environmental, Health Services and Safety department of SeaWorld Texas and Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations associated with Environmental, Safety, Worker’s Compensation and Emergency Medical Services. Additionally, this position oversees loss prevention, worker’s compensation and general liability/guest liability matters to ensure issues are handled in accordance with state and local regulations and SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment (SEA) policies.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

Must have five (5) years of related experience and/or training in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety field or equivalent training

Experience in public liability and worker's compensation including claims management and litigation management preferred

Must have knowledge of environmental/safety laws and/or the ability to research new information and/or laws

Consistently practice and drive a culture of safe work habits including, but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations

Demonstrate the ability to meet strict deadlines and lead others in a fast-paced work environment

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language

Ability to create tangible goals and execute activities to achieve those goals

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays and the ability to travel as needed

Must be able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods of time in extreme weather conditions

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee management of safety regulatory programs and best practices

Safety compliance: OSHA regulations, inspections, training, accident investigations, fire prevention systems, worker’s compensation and general liability

Oversee management of environmental regulatory programs and SEA programs. Compliance issues as required by federal, state, and local laws to include but not limited to water waste, pesticide use, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, air quality, energy conservation, spill response, underground tanks, solid waste and hazardous waste

Responsible for minimizing losses through prevention, liability reduction and educational programs

Direct corporate and regulatory safety programs. Plan and direct response for emergency operations and business resumption. Formulate general policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Provide clear direction and define departmental priorities

Communicate injury targets, trend and root cause analysis

Oversee management of claims processing for Worker’s Compensation and general liability

Evaluate statistical data generated by EHS to track incidents for trend analysis

Oversee accident investigations to ensure accident interviews are completed in a timely manner and facilitate investigation for both employee and guest incidents

Oversee management of EHS and Health Services department personnel

Develop and oversee EHS expense and labor budget along with Worker’s compensation and General Liability budgets

Ensure regulatory and corporate compliance by inspecting and touring the park facilities

Direct training awareness programs and audit department compliance. Develop and communicate local strategic safety initiatives
