We are looking to fill a Training Instructor position. The Training Instructor will provide on-site technical training to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants with Turbine maintenance, Retrofits, and Generator maintenance. OEM training will provide

the technical skills for the engineer to operate confidently and independently for GSI.

The position will receive training at the GE Power Systems University Training and Development Centers and at customer locations globally. After the formal classroom training, on the job training will commence depending on the specific individuals knowledge

and experience.

Job assignments can be either domestic or international, providing turbine related services (maintenance or retrofit) to utility, industrial, transportation, government and commercial customers. This is a results oriented position. The job will involve extensive

travel, long hours and shift work.

Responsibilities:

  • Each training program will have a budget they will be responsible for: supplies, hours, materials, etc. Control of costs mistakes could be detrimental to job cost.

  • Quality control; Presentation, preservation, protection, security, or safekeeping of turbine modules and OEM materials.

  • Possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures, preparation for training programs and classes, and materials

  • Lead Training Instructor for GSI performing training on Gas, Steam, and Combined Cycle Operations and Maintenance, will be responsible to design, develop and deliver gas, steam, combined cycle turbine maintenance and operations training for assigned turbines,including preparation of classroom / support equipment.

  • Must obtain a performance rating of 80% or higher

  • Maintain training budget standards and comply with GSI expense policies

  • Duties as assigned to accomplish GSI training objectivesSupervision:They will be responsible for the students of the training classes during the training programs.Skill sets may vary with the following:

  • Other Technical Advisors 1-12 Craft Labor Technical Advisor 1-50

  • Craft Labor Foremen 1-10

  • Craft Labor 1-50Business Contacts:

  • Internal: Training Instructor will report to Resource Managers when they are not on a training assignment and to a GSI Field Service Manager when they are on a training assignment, which they report to on average of once per week.

  • Internal communications and relationships also to HR/EHS personnel, payroll personnel, and Segment Manager as needed.

  • External: Training Instructor may report to the client or the plant/utility owner giving daily or weekly updates on job progress or as needed.Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Programming is preferred, as well as 2-5 years of experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning and orturbine controls / excitation control systems depending on the course material they will be delivering.

  • Must able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

  • Must have previous technical instructor experience

  • Energy field service, field engineering, or installation and commissioning of GE Energy Turbine products

  • GE Excitation Experience

  • GE Turbine Controls Experience

  • Heavy Duty Excitation and Controls Experience

  • Familiar with Turbine Operations and Maintenance

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and planning skills

  • Proven ability and track record to produce and deliver results

  • Strong computer skills with Word, Excel, and Power Point

  • Familiar with Turbine Controls Systems and I/O devices

  • Familiar with Excitation operation, and control philosophies

  • Extensive knowledge of the GE Excitation product lines

  • Self-starter with proven experience managing multiple tasks

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Initiative to learn and apply state-of-the-art technology / concepts in the day-to-day requirements of this position

  • Strong analytical skills working independently and in a team

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business, technical and technical writing personnel

  • Excellent presentation skills to an audience with a wide range of experience levels
