The philosophy of the Community Living Program includes teaching skills and focusing on strengths, encouraging its residents’ participation in making choices about living accommodations, school locations and work or leisure activities. Designed around person-centered planning, a process that identifies existing and natural support, the Community Living Program incorporates individual preferences and strengths, and develops strategies and resources for achieving effective outcomes.
As a Personal Care Assistant your responsibilities will include:
Assist clients in their Victoria-based homes with activities of daily living including health & personal management, achieving personal goals, recreation, light housework and cooking meals.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of clients while improving functioning and minimizing interfering behaviors.
Prepare documentation to include shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress notes.
Facilitate proper medical care including medication administration for clients. Transport and accompany clients to doctor visits and other appointments
Lifting and moving clients
Assist in all aspects of personal hygiene, including diapering
Attend all meetings and training
Follow licensing and program guidelines daily
Be mature, responsible and accountable in all things you do

One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults preferred.

Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.**
Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.**
Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.**
