When Dell launches new game-changing products into the global market, Product Operations Engineering has a vital role to play. The team coordinates all the operational activities that enable products to be introduced and sustained successfully. It’s about making sure there is consistency between production and test environments. It’s about ensuring hardware, software and networking changes are migrated into the production environment in a stable and controlled way. And it’s about creating build processes, coordinating product builds for release into production and setting up configuration specifications for releases.

Role Overview

Technical leader for Operations specializing in System Design Review, Manufacturing Test, and Implementation of customer driven complex system requirements in global manufacturing sites.

Leads all activities necessary to take system requirements from concept to production including: Design Reviews, Test Requirements review and development, Infrastructure, Equipment and Electrical/Power requirements analysis, Switch & Networking reviews, Issue characterization, Failure Analysis and driving Root Cause Analysis.

Creates/maintains build processes, coordinates product builds for release into production, prioritizes failures and works with development teams to resolve problems. May collaborate with technologists, systems engineers, and development management to oversee execution of deliverables by suppliers in an outsourced development model.

Role Responsibilities

-Represents Worldwide Operations from a product perspective

-Creates factory strategies and plans for -Worldwide Operations based on product launch plans

-Engages in Design Reviews with Engineering to ensure manufacturability, reliability, testability and serviceability

-Designs and defines build, test and integration requirements for complex customer systems

-Reviews ODM and sub-tier vendor capability to support product development and production

-Supports Vendor management: QBR, On-boarding, selection (evaluations and audits) and on-going support

-Develops Test Strategy and comprehensive test plan for new hardware and solutions

-Drives appropriate and cost effective implementation of test and process automation in factories and with suppliers

-Interfaces with external validation partners to execute the Test Strategy

-Provides Technical oversight during qualification builds

-Provides First Level troubleshooting support to Test teams and interfaces with Engineering and extended teams for resolution of more complex issues

-Engages with facilities for Infrastructure (Power & Networking) assessments, reviews vendor’s assessments, and provides recommendation to ensure capacity and cost effectiveness

-Interfaces with suppliers, electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, tooling engineering and other development groups to ensure the successful development and launch of new products

-Develops, publishes, and implements standardized processes within Operations and extended teams to institutionalize LL and align best known practices between Dell and suppliers

-Drives root cause analysis to solve issues impacting production, test, and service areas


-8+ years of relevant experience with Technical Undergraduate degree or 6+ years with graduate degree

-Knowledge and experience of Problem Solving and Data Analytics methodologies to drive root cause, corrective/preventive action

-Excellent communication, verbal and written skills

-Project Management experience on medium to high complexity programs on tight time lines


-Education: Electrical, Computer and Mechanical Engineering Degrees

-Work Experience: Previous work experience in System Design/Validation; Manufacturing Test Engineering; and/or Networking Engineering
