Dow Chemical Senior Run Plant Engineer/Unit Leader in Beaumont, Texas

The Dow Beaumont Aniline Plant has an exciting and challenging Unit Leader / Senior Run Plant Engineer role in Beaumont, Texas . This plant was acquired by Dow from Chemours on March 1, 2016. This is a unique opportunity to participate on a team to convert this operation to Dow, install and start up a new Nitrobenzene process unit, and debottleneck the aniline process unit. There will also be other multiple improvement opportunities and technical challenges that will need to be met in order to meet business and facilitygoals

Core Responsibilities:

The Run Plant Engineer will work as a technical resource to coach and assist the operations team in the continuing implementation of Dow Work processes and integration of this facility into Dow, optimize and improve Environmental, Health & Safety, production throughput, product quality, reliability of supply. The Unit Leader responsibility will include additional responsibility to provide functional leadership to other Run Plant engineers and take ownership of the overall technical performance of the unit including developing and addressing more complex key technical performance issues. Heavy focus will be on assisting and leading the process techs in learning and using OPD, short interval control, and basic Dow operating principles. This role will also work closely with other individuals and teams to establish yearly spending plans, turnaround coordination, production commitments to the business, and maintenance and conversion cost goals.

  • Understands broad process technology, equipment and control technology. Works with Technical Advising and plant personnel to optimize operations to meet Business and plant goals. (Environmental, Health & Safety, Production, cost, quality, energy, reliability).

  • Participates in advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Ensures findings are documented in Plant OD for future usage.

  • Provides high level leadership and direction in the day to day decision making for the operating area of responsibility.

  • As required participates on and leads teams in his/her area of accountability

  • Networks with other engineers on site and within the business to leverage knowledge on plant operations. Example: Maximize Production, Improvement, Site Optimization, etc.

  • Provides leadership and functional direction to other Run Plant engineers working across the units

  • Ensures MET is understood and utilized.

  • Ensures Operating Discipline / Operating Discipline Management System requirements are met and include appropriate MET (Most Effective Technology).

  • Coaches employees on effective implementation and utilization of MET.

  • Implements best practices in order to optimize operations.

  • Understands and applies skills and knowledge in statistical Implementation for Competitive Advantage (TICA)l Process Control (SPC) technology to projects

  • Provides Six Sigma Methodology and technical support to projects

  • Works with Plant Process Control Coordination Role to ensure process control is optimized in the facility.

  • Supports plant roles in procedure usage, creation, reviews, updates and approvals when assigned.

  • As required communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel, Technology or Expertise centers.

  • Performs appropriate Manage Production roles as determined by Plant \ Site \ \Business. Example: Technical Advising, Production Coordinating, Operate Plant Work Process Leader, Operating Discipline Management System Element Focal Point, Production Data Analyzing, Manufacturing Representative, etc.

  • Required Qualifications: *

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
