WSP is currently initiating a search for an Aviation CADD Manager for our Dallas office. We are looking for a talented, self motivated, experience Senior CADD technician that has prior experience in Airport Design. The successful candidate would be capable of working independently where required, and also perform and/or oversee a variety of technical activities in support of the Aviation Design Team across the country. The ideal candidate will have experience in aviation, including a variety of landside and airside projects including rehabilitation and reconstruction of runways, taxiways and aprons; as well as airfield NAVAIDS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares complex deliverables while working on multiple projects

  • Preparation of design plans and specifications per FAA Advisory Circulars and assist in the preparation of permitting, design and construction documents

  • Prepare and maintain CADD base drawings

  • Recommends minor design changes to Designers and/or engineers

  • Mentors less experienced, developing technical personnel

  • Works closely with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers to obtain project information and ensure drawings are accurate and complete

  • May prepare cost and quantity estimates, and may perform design calculations

  • Communicates with other team members regarding project schedules and offers progress reports

  • Provide input regarding company graphic standards and procedures and Actively Participates in the Quality Control/Quality Assurance Process

  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues with them

Job Requirements

Experience Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school graduate; preferred technical training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience

  • 7-10 years of professional experience in use of CAD software for all aspects of site civil engineering for airport design, including grading and drainage design, utility design, etc.

  • Must have thorough understanding of FAA’s current advisory circulars and their application in airport layout and geometric design

  • Must have expert level knowledge of design tools such as AutoCAD Civil3D, Excel, and Word

  • Responsible for quality of work output

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior aviation design experience
