Job Summary:

The ideal candidate should be energetic, proactive, and have a HIGH bias for action. The individual will capture sales through technical differentiation at existing and prospect accounts. An Account Manager engages with customers to understand technical needs and drives technology development to generate customer value. The ability to establish trust, credibility, and a strong relationship with buyer influences at assigned accounts is a must.


  • Uses account planning and margin management tools in combination with electronic technology to develop and share account plans with key stakeholders.

  • Defines annual, value-creating account goals, consistent with regional market strategies. Demonstrates sales excellence.

  • Develops and builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders and demonstrates influential leadership. Builds upon customer intimacy and becomes a trusted consultant for customers.

  • Produces sales forecasts and is able to capitalize on / compensate for market changes.

  • Recognizes, anticipates, and solves customer problems resulting in business opportunities and revenue growth. Advocates internally for customer needs.

  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of polyurethane technology. Understands and proactively analyzes customer's product and service needs.

  • Shares business, industry, technical, and competitive intelligence with Dow stakeholders to promote and advance organization knowledge.

  • Constantly identifies new market opportunities and account prospects to speed revenue growth and value creation.

  • 50% travel is associated with this role.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of experience in a sales or professional type role.

  • 5 or more years in the Polyurethanes industry in either a commercial or customer technical/application development role.

  • Current, valid US drivers license.

  • Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.

  • Strong Interpersonal, Facilitative, and Organizational skills.

  • Effectively interacts with multiple functions and diverse individuals to achieve goals.

  • Demonstrates excellent decision making skills, ability to prioritize appropriately.

  • Effectively manages multiple competing priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the site.

  • Strong reading comprehension and listening skills.

  • Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.

  • Able to work with independently with minimal supervision with in an empowered team environment.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.


  • Bachelors degree or higher in a Technical discipline, such as Chemistry or Engineering is required.
