General Dynamics IT is currently looking for a Research Technician II to support the Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. NAMRU is a major research center conducting medical, craniofacial, directed energy, and biomedical research which focuses on ways to enhance the health, safety, performance, and operational readiness of Navy and Marine Corps personnel and addresses their emergent medical and oral/facial problems in routine and combat operations.
This positon will perform research and/or development laboratory tasks, tests and experiments.
Evaluate the various effects and efficacy of antivenom
Screen phages using phage display technique
Generate and maintain SOPs
Participate in weekly lab meetings and present weekly report
Prepare purchase orders and SAP site report
Collaborate with engineers, biologists, analytical chemists, and veterinary science staff
Write and edit material for publication and presentation
Maintains record keeping system.
May provide guidance and training to less-experienced technicians.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
Master's Degree preferred
Minimum 1 year of research experience; 3-5 years of related scientific experience
Knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and safety procedures
Experience with biochemical detection and quantification techniques including ELISA, enzyme assay, western blot and cytotoxicity test
US Citizenship is a prerequisite for this position per the contract requirements.
This position requires a favorable NACI investigation which is completed by the government after the offer letter has been executed.
