Role Summary:
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will develop manufacturing processes for new programs and improve existing processes to achieve safety, quality, on time delivery, and productivity goals. This position will play a lead role in developing, improving and integrating processes associated with the site manufacturing processes.
Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
Work cross functionally with machine operators, design engineers, quality, sourcing and other functions to develop processes for new programs, and handle development and support for existing programs
Troubleshoot and debug equipment, communicate problems and develop solutions to fix and improve the process
Translate technical processes and methods to train and empower production employees in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest effectiveness and equipment capability
Assist Production Supervisors, programmers, and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through root cause analysis and permanent corrective action
Perform NC programming and optimize NC programs for cycle time reductions
Develop fixturing and tooling solutions, as needed, both cutting tools and fixturing
Maintain and lead improvement efforts on site NC network / program communications / etc to support NC machining activities Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist
Minimum 5 years of experience in Numerical Control machining equipment (multi-axis lathes and mills with live tooling) –from both operational and maintenance standpoint Desired Characteristics:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited college or university preferably
Working knowledge of NC machining equipment (multi-axis lathes and mills with live tooling) – from both operational and maintenance standpoint
Ability to read and understand NC machine code (G code) and related tools including CAM software (Edgecam preferred), writing CAM source code, solid modeling (Unigraphics preferred) and cad tools (ACAD preferred)
Demonstrated proficiency interpreting engineering drawings (machining and assembly) including geometrical tolerancing and metrology skills
Hands-on mindset, ability and willingness to perform on-machine testing
Technical writing ability in the area of methods and written instructions
Experience with product hydro pressure testing
Strong problem solving and organizational skills, with above average skills in geometry, trigonometry, and statistics along with the ability to think spatially
Ability to effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization, both verbally and through written communication, including with vendors
Experience creating and improving shop floor layouts
Self-motivated and self-driven proven project leadership
Ability productively manage multiple projects concurrently
Ability to analyze data and problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions using structured methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, Shainin, etc
