Job Description

The Director, Energy Services Development-Emerging Business facilitates the development and execution of market and product strategy through the integrated market planning process. This role will collaborate with Market, Division, and Corporate functions to create and execute organic and inorganic growth strategies that enable Republic Services to win in the market place; and will facilitate the development of infrastructure and inorganic growth through acquisitions and divestitures.

Principal Responsibilities

Acquisitions and Divestitures

  • Facilitates the annual market planning process to determine product and market strategies.

  • Performs financial and capital investment analysis of business development transactions, including acquisitions and divestitures of non-strategic assets.

  • Collaborates with the Energy and Environmental Solutions team members to create an acquisition pipeline to support the financial growth targets.

  • Works closely with Division President, Directors, and General Managers to identify and execute business development transactions, including due diligence, negotiations, coordination of closing process, and integration process.

  • Creates a business case, including proforma development, for acquisition targets.

Project Management

  • Evaluates business justification for development of new infrastructure projects, such as TRDs, landfills, and other related business lines and manages projects through the development cycle.

  • Leads and motivates internal and external functional expert teams to ensure timely and cost effective completion of projects.

  • Develops project strategies and milestones.

  • This position requires travel by air, car and/or other modes of transportation for a minimum of 30% of the time.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

  • Minimum of 10 years of general business experience, preferably in a capital intensive industry. (Required.)

  • Related energy and environmental industry experience. (Required.)

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related degree.

  • Experience managing a project budget in excess of $5 million.

  • Experience managing a project team of professional functional experts.

  • Experience working with government agencies and lobbyists.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and prepare financial reports.

  • Knowledge of reasonableness of operating data and analysis of results.
