The Director of M&A will play an important role as a member of the company’s business development team charged with managing execution of acquisitions, divestments and other strategic investments such as joint ventures. The focus of the role is working with Weatherford’s business leaders to develop M&A strategy, identify acquisition and divestment candidates, analyze strategic and financial implications, and support transaction structuring and execution. This person will have significant impact on the growth, direction and future of Weatherford and in the evolution of Weatherford’s business development team.


Responsible for all phases of the transaction process including target introductions and screening, structuring, valuation, due diligence, negotiation and closing

Communication and alignment with key internal stakeholders to support decision making and transaction approval processes

Prioritizing and assessing transaction opportunities and establishing transaction strategy

Strategic and financial analysis and modeling of potential acquisitions and possible alternatives (including buy, build, or partner analysis in conjunction with the sponsoring businesses).

Understanding business strategy and helping source transactions within that strategic framework

Conduct proforma and valuation analyses for prospective and active transactions, including working with functional teams/ outside advisors to validate critical assumptions

Research and recommend courses of action both at the project and deal level that directly contributes to project outcome

Analyze and track industry and competitor trends, expansion opportunities and internal performance

Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams including business unit partners, other corporate support functions and external service providers.

Developing and coaching junior team members (training, coaching and mentoring)



7 to 10 years’ experience with a public accounting firm, corporate finance, investment banking or private equity firm

Previous M&A transaction experience through roles in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Consulting (Oil and Gas industry focus preferred)

Understanding of the M&A processes: including valuation, transaction structuring and pro forma analyses as well as due diligence and integration operations

Experience in strategic analysis and analysis of alternatives, including an ability to translate strategic options into financial/ valuation models

Experience in identifying, evaluating and analyzing business trends, risks and opportunities

Ability to negotiate transactions and influence business decisions on both sides of a transaction

Proven deal leadership skills with track record of successfully closed deals

Strong background in complex problem solving, quantitative and qualitative analysis, financial modeling, and presentation development
