Job Description

The Leader Data Governance position is responsible for DPUSA data governance program; which includes the dedicated priority for data content quality, ownership, security, usage, and transparency.

Transparent integrated data and information for the business is the focus. It provides leadership across cross-functional teams. It actively contributes to long-range strategy planning and develops and implements the policies, procedures and systems required for maintaining and developing the overall data accessibility, reporting, modeling, and quality goals.

This position will own the DPUSA Data Hub (technology agnostic), Reporting Portal on Insights, Data Mapping, and dashboards.

The leader will plan, document, and manage direct reports and a technical network.

In full collaboration and partnership with the DPUSA business the following functions will be expected:

Enterprise coordination and implementation of a roadmap for data governance related strategic priorities considering business needs and industry trends

Hold Business and project leads accountable for adherence to data policy requirements, including demonstration of assigned roles and responsibilities, as well as the ongoing tracking and resolution of issues

Engage Risk and Compliance to ensure policies are adhered to, such as records retention, Data Loss Prevention, Identity and Access Management, Privacy, Data Protection etc.

Extend current data governance practices to support a hybrid cloud environment that will effectively address data consistency and data duplication challenges

Actively engage in identifying continuous improvement opportunities to better manage structured and unstructured data both on premise and on the cloud

Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals. Understand root cause of the problem and make sound timely decisions to resolve problems.

Tasks include:

Data governance

Manage and maintain the data dictionary for DPUSA

Assist users with finding data, reports

Work with users to find the best option for solving their data availability issue

Work with assets, information architect and data management to prioritize and align requests for reports or data to be made available in the hub

Data Hub enhancement:

Understand and communicate use cases for the data hub

Work with assets, information architect and data management to prioritize and align requests for data to be made available in the hub

Work with product owners to understand security requirements of data

Work with IT to secure data access to source systems and build out central data platform

Add data types to the data hub by mapping from System of Record to the data hub PPDM model

Propose additional uses of data hub functionality to further streamline information flows

Reporting enhancement

Design, align and coordinate implementation of reports in Business Warehouse (BW)

Develop reports in Tibco Spotfire and/or PowerBI with IT collaboration

Maintain reporting portal

Reporting governance

Ensure reporting quality by using right tools and data sources for the right purpose in such a way that reports are pulled efficiently and accurately.

Ensure the totality and cohesiveness of DPUSA reports.

Maintain the DPUSA Analytics reporting portal on Entry.

Act as a gatekeeper on DPUSA report portfolio. Work with assets, functional managers, local process managers, information architects and data management team to prioritize and align requests for changes or new reports.

Design, align and coordinate implementation of new reports using relevant systems such as SAP business warehouse, Composite data hub, Spotfire, Business Analytics, MiS etc.

Ensure data availability in business warehouse and/or the data hub to support DPUSA standardized and ad-hoc reports. Work with users to find the best option for solving their data availability issue.

Qualifications

Required

Proven collaboration skills, and ability to lead with influence throughout a cross-discipline value chain

General understanding of energy operations, terminology, and how information flows through the business

Good understanding of Statoil processes, systems and how they work together.

Good overall understanding of DPUSA reports and reporting requirements

Excellent requirements gathering

Coordinating tasks

4+ years of energy experience working with data preferred

Thorough understanding of information and data modelling techniques

Proficient in SQL
