BMO Financial Group M&A Associate I&CB in Houston, Texas
The Associate is responsible for efficiently supporting the origination and execution of M&A transactions in the Energy sector (upstream and midstream) including performing complex financial modeling and analysis. The Associate will monitor multiple clients and transactions at a time in a proactive and independent manner. As part of an ongoing team approach to best serve and manage clients, the Associate will also be accountable for identifying and recommending related ancillary investment and corporate banking products to clients. Associates coach and mentor analysts in deal execution, pitch development and financial analysis.
Business Development and Client Relationship Management
Create pitch books for clients with respect to M&A transactions and strategic alternatives and participate in their presentation to clients.
Monitor the M&A environment, the Energy industry and regulatory reform for potential changes or trends which may affect clients.
Directly manage a diverse portfolio of public and private companies as well as private equity with progression toward increasing client responsibility.
Review and continually monitor performance of existing accounts and client relationships.
Conduct due diligence that includes client visits, analysis of business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations.
Identify new M&A opportunities for clients.
Financial Modeling and Analysis
Create financial models for use in valuation and pro forma consequences of M&A transactions.
Generate financial models and analyses as business needs and industry requirements dictate.
Analyze industry trends.
Initiate contact with ECM, DCM, Corporate Banking and Trading Products to deliver a one bank solution to clients.
Participate in deal teams to develop, present and win mandates for new opportunities.
Coach and mentor individuals in the Analyst role.
An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and outstanding academic achievement.
MBA degree preferred.
2 years of investment banking or valuation experience at a financial analyst level.
Knowledge of M&A, capital markets, investment banking products and applicable regulations.
Exceptional skills in quantitative analytics and financial modeling.
Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools including MS Excel.
Strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office products and the Internet.
Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment and client interaction.
Ability to work under limited supervision.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Excellent capability to independently and proactively service multiple clients.
