Working in the Weatherford Drilling and Evaluation Software Product Line, this position is responsible for managing the creation and maintenance of Weatherford’s Drilling Optimization Software and Service products. This includes standard operating procedures, work instructions, field instructions, standard work-flow, software product ownership, workshops, marketing strategy, and supporting the implementation / setup of Real Time Operating Centers, when / where required.
This position requires a close working relationship with software research and development group, cross product lines, global operations, marketing and technical sales teams.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Define drilling optimization software and service requirements for D&E Software and real time operation centers.
Conduct gap analysis of service needs to be at par or surpassed by that offered by the competition.
Detail out the defined Drilling Optimization service into a service matrix and prioritize requirements.
Assume Product Ownership / SME duties of Drilling Optimization software requirements and development.
Ensure software stays on task and within agreed upon time-line, as per requirements list and priority.
Communicate Drilling Optimization software and service product to the wider organization by creation of work instructions, standard operating procedures and workflows work-flow.
Conduct workshops / webinars as required, facilitating 4.6
Observe the Drilling Optimization processes per region and ensure all services adhere to the correct service requirements.
Facilitate software testing via regions and provide feedback to software development team.
Provide software releases to the regions.
Liaise with Subject Matter Experts in Engineering, GBU, and regions to meet timeline goals of software and service releases.
Provide technical assistance to regions if/when required
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
Solid working knowledge of current drilling optimization techniques and practices
Familiar with current drilling engineering optimization software and capabilities in the market
Experience with drilling real time operation center implementation and operation
Directional drilling and well planning knowledge
Must be a self-starter, task-oriented, and require little supervision to achieve project goals
Strong project management skills
Write and prioritize compelling user requirements and business cases
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
Ability to communicate effectively at different levels in the organization
Engineering or geoscience bachelor degree plus 10+ years of oil and gas drilling experience
Well site real time data management systems knowledge
3+ years prior working experience as a Drilling Optimization Engineer or equivalent
Track record of results in an innovation role
The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
Research and development working experience
Advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence concepts
Rig operation automation experience
Familiar with software development processes and methodologies
Software product management
3+ Years working experience as software product manager or technology product champion
Master in Science and / or Master in business administration degree
