As an Trading & Commercial Analytics Principal (Director) - your key responsibilities may include:

  • Architect and deliver consulting solutions and services and provide sales support within a clearly defined area of industry expertise.

  • Define solutions and offerings that allow for data and analytics approach, accelerator, and/or product re-use across clients and projects

  • Develop and publish POV and thought leadership material on industry or technology vision and solutions in advanced analytics as it pertains to commodities supply, trading, and marketing

  • Build and lead POD teams consisting of data scientists, data engineers, business analysts, and visualization experts focused on deploying innovative analytics solutions for Trading & Commercial clients, with activities including:

  • Design, develop and deploy analytical descriptive/predictive models to inform decisions, using a combination of statistical techniques

  • Manage, architect and analyze big data to build relevant data models and extract insights

  • Combine data from disparate sources, test hypotheses and translate analytics into research findings

  • Contribute to data mining architectures, modeling standards, reporting, and data analysis methodologies

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate data mining results with existing systems

  • Monitor data mining system performance and implement efficiency improvements

  • Developing and testing electricity and natural gas price forecasting algorithms using large datasets such as load, weather, historical, grid, forward marks etc.

  • Developing and testing arbitrage algorithms using proprietary energy market models, price forecasts, and customer data.

  • Construct and fit statistical, machine learning, or optimization models

  • Use visualization techniques and tools to explore the data and communicate insights to a multi-disciplinary audience

  • Use visualization techniques and tools to deliver advanced dashboard, reporting, and analytics application solutions

  • This role holder adds credibility to Accenture's reputation during the sales process and deep expertise through project delivery

Basic Qualifications

  • Highly distinctive, market-relevant knowledge of the commodities trading, supply, marketing, and management space

  • Exhibits strong understanding of future technology and business trends in area of expertise

  • 5 years’ experience working with commodities trading organizations in a quantitative analytics capacity

  • 5 years’ experience working with Python, R, MATLAB, or similar programming language

  • Demonstrates the ability to develop a leading edge and recognized point of view

  • Demonstrates the ability to contribute internally and externally as an expert or thought leader

  • Demonstrates the ability to establish a clearly articulated vision and build and lead teams to execute to that vision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in mathematics-related field

  • 10 years’ relevant industry experience

  • 5 years’ experience in a management/leadership capacity

  • Demonstrated ability to shape innovative ideas and use them to materially impact work at clients

  • Known externally as an expert that in turn brings clients to Accenture
