Raytheon Sr Systems Engineer I in McKinney, Texas

The Advanced Electro-Optical and Mission Systems (AEO&MS) Department is currently in need for an Electro Optical Systems Engineer to support the Space Systems Business Area in the development and build of advanced electro-optical systems. The systems engineer will be part of a design team building electro-optical systems including imagers, passive/active EO tracking, LIDAR, and directed energy systems. The systems engineer will be responsible for assessing systems architecture, developing requirements for these systems, and supporting the design, build, and test efforts. The role involves being able assess design characteristics and analyze impacts to performance parameters such as geolocation/LOS, spatial resolution, Wave Front Error (WFE), beam quality, and spectral response. The role also involves familiarity of verification and test activities and to assist in system performance experiments in the lab and in the field. The AEO&MS Department supports Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) by providing systems engineering expertise in the Electro-Optical Systems (EOS) domain. Typical roles within the department involve; EO System Architects and System Design Engineers Integrated Product Team Leadership, Lead Systems Engineers, Chief Engineers Requirements Engineers EO Systems Analysts Required Skills: The systems engineer needs to be familiar with electro-optical infrared imagery, focal plane technology, or laser technology. The systems engineer needs to be knowledgeable of systems engineering work products such as: Systems Design and Architecture Requirements Allocation and Development Modeling, Simulation, and Trade Studies Structural, Thermal, and Optical Analysis Systems Verification (Buy Off/Sell Off Activities) Systems Reliability and Safety Risk Management Technical Planning In addition to general systems engineering work product familiarity this role will require: 4+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field (optical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics, etc) Experience in design and development OR modeling and simulation of EO/IR Systems Integration and Test experience with EO/IR systems or laser/LIDAR systems Strong math and physics background Prior experience working with multi-disciplined teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of the organization Current and active Secret Security Clearance US Citizenship Desired Skills: Has designed and/or tested an EO/IR system (tactical or commercial) Has previous experience working on airborne or ground vehicle weapon systems and fire control systems Assembly, Integration & Test experience with high energy laser systems Technical experience in opto-mechanical engineering, control systems, embedded computing, or electronics Demonstrated experience in systems architecture and design, IV&V planning, procedures and strategies Experience in numerical modeling and simulation, and performing analysis using, C++, Python, or similar language Experience in model based systems engineering and familiarity with associated tools such as DOORS and Core. Experience with signal processing, image processing, tracking, computer vision, machine learning, and/or object recognition Has research and design experience with advanced laser concepts Required Education: Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline, physics or other related technical field Desired Education: Master of Science or PhD in Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, High Energy Physics or other related technical field This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment. 112844
