Position: Electronic Field Service Tech

Work Location: West Texas

Reports To: Operations Manager

Field Service Tech

Mobile Data Technologies is seeking an Electronic Field Service Techto keep pace with expanding sales and product development. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will provide technical support for the electronic products produced by the company.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides technical support to our customers through telephone, email and a remote access program
  • Provides field technical support for new & existing installations
  • Interacts and coordinates effectively with all other company departments
  • Assembles computers including drive imaging, OS installation, and software configuration
  • Configures and tests communication equipment such as LAN/WIFI networks, cell modems and radio modems
  • Tests and calibrates completed products
  • May assist production team with assembly of products
  • Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance
  • Writes technical manuals and develops schematics to describe and illustrate system operating characteristics
  • After Hours on call rotation for customer support (company cellphone provided)
  • Standard work day is 8 hours (Over time is paid after 40 hour work week)
  • Travel varies, primarily in Texas, USA.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a diploma program in Electronics Technologist/ Computer Engineering Technologist
  • Computer literacy is essential for the role, so candidates will need to be experienced with Windows XP/7/10 and Microsoft Office 2007/2013 (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote)
  • Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Experience with field support would be an asset
  • Experience in the oilfield or with oilfield related products would be an asset
  • Experience with computer programing would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to relate effectively with all disciplines at all levels of the company
  • Motivated self-starter who can manage their time effectively
  • Personal growth potential that can keep pace with the expanding needs of the company and the business
