Job Description

The NSF-energy and transport systems division grant funded research project requires experienced researcher with graduate degree in chemistry or chemical engineering to carry out the fuel synthesis from cellulosic biomass experiments. The NSF approved budget allocated salary and benefits support for two years for the research associate

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize hydrocarbon fuels in less than one gram scale for laboratory analysis.

  • Analyze hydrocarbons using chromatography for determination of components.

  • Search literature for writing research publications.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

  • Two years of related professional experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering.

  • Two or more years of experience in Laboratory Research.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.

  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks. Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Laboratory Synthesis experience, chemical using instrumentation methods.
